Eating On Vacation
The majority of Americans have a tough time maintaining their normal diet while on vacation. Sometimes it’s the “I’m on vacation so I’ll splurge” mentality. Other times, it’s just a lack of the ability, time---or, let’s face it---the desire, to prepare your own meals. So, if you’re forced to eat out, at least try to make smart choices half the time. For instance, if you hit a Mexican restaurant, ask for Blue corn tortillas. A new study has proves that chips made with blue corn have 9 percent less starch, 20 percent more protein, and a more healthy glycemic index. There’s even a slight indication that there are beneficial properties pertaining to antioxidants and metabolism. While it’s not health food by any means, at least it’s a healthier choice compared to the white-corn alternative. There are several great Mexican places near our Myrtle Beach resorts that our staff could recommend, so why not go for a little ‘health’ food while you’re here?
