Myrtle Beach Shopping Center Getting Bigger
Representatives for the new Market Commons shopping center have announced the names of several more stores that have leased space in the 390,000-square-foot development. Bath & Body Works, Travinia Italian Kitchen and Victoria’s Secret join the growing line-up that already included Williams-Sonoma, P.F. Chang’s China Bistro, Pottery Barn, Banana Republic, Consolidated Theaters and many more. According to reports, over 85 percent of the retail space has now been assigned, although there is still much work to be done before the anticipated April 2008 opening. Located on the site of the former Myrtle Beach Air Force Base, the $56 million shopping area will be surrounded by a small apartment community, and features a spot for a war memorial in honor of what the site once represented. Developers anticipate the area will be a huge attraction for not only people here on Myrtle Beach vacations, but for locals, as well.
