Notes about Jellyfish
Usually not a problem until the cooler weather, jellyfish demand respect. They are beautiful, and fewer than 100 species are hazardous of the over 2,000 species worldwide. Jellyfish usually appear in colonies. Watch for them on the beach and in the water. Tell children not to touch, even if they are pretty or strange looking. Stingers can produce painful allergic reactions, usually not life-threatening unless the person has a heart condition. Use vinegar if stung.
