Plantersville Heritage Festival
Falola Jackson (right) is a member of the group called Egbe, Kilimajaro, a family of African Drummers and Dancers in Georgetown County. Here she teaches gumbae dance to Mesha Leah James, 10, of Conway and others at the 5th annual Plantersville Heritage Festival, held on June 27th. Recently, the Village Group hosted the festival to celebrate local residents and descendants of slaves who played major roles in shaping Georgetown County and South Carolina.
