Seagrass Loss Affects Our Environment

Not as colorful and dramatic as coral, seagrass is as important to our eco-system, if not more so, according to scientists. Besides providing grazing and nursery zones for marine life, the grassy areas of our ocean encourage the extraction of greenhouse gases. Some of the reasons for the decrease in seagrass is sewage which promotes algae and cuts off much-needed sunlight from the grassy areas. Diminishing seagrass adds to global warming.
