Hooters Golf Leaving Myrtle Beach?
After 14 consecutive years of holding events along the Grand Strand, the National Golf Association's Hooters Tour is considering a venue move. Previous tournaments at Barefoot Resort's Dye Club, Bay Tree Plantation, Wild Wing and River Hills Golf and Country Club, have been great golf-wise, but the tour president has cited that these Myrtle Beach golf events have been, financially, the worst in the series. A lack of area sponsors and community interest has forced the tour to consider a move in the near future. As it stands now, the 2008 schedule has booked a location in Oklahoma with sponsorship from the Peoria Indian Tribe, but nothing for Myrtle Beach is on the docket. Time will tell.
