Hootie & the Blowfish Charity Event Returning to Myrtle Beach
One of the most popular charity events on the Strand has plans to be back again in 2008. The 6th annual Hootie & the Blowfish Monday After the Masters Celebrity Pro-Am will be held on April 14 at Barefoot Resort's Dye Club, with discussions already taking place for a 2009 repeat. In the past, celebrity athletes Arnold Palmer, John Daly, Woody Austin, Tom Watson, Steve Spurrier, Johnny Bench, Dan Marino, and Michael Waltrip have played, as well as celebrities Samuel L. Jackson and Alice Cooper. Last year, the event raised $450,000 in a sold-out tournament that saw 6,000+ spectators show up to catch a glimpse of the all-stars. A concert associated with the event will be held the evening of April 14 at the House of Blues as a sweet finale. If you'll be in town on your next Myrtle Beach vacation during that time, you may want to swing by and take a look for yourself. More information will follow on how this coming year's spectator tickets may be obtained.
