Things-To-Do in Myrtle Beach
Currently underway until 10/31. Grand Strand Fishing Rodeo. Sponsored by the Myrtle Beach Chamber of Commerce, this event has over $7,000 in prizes for fish caught from pier, surf, inlet or deep sea. 10/17. Bonnie Raitt with Randell Bramblett at The House of Blues in North Myrtle Beach. The show starts at 7:00 PM. You will love hearing this widely popular American Blues guitarist-singer-songwriter, known especially well for her songs such as "Something to Talk About" and "Love Sneaking up on You." Bonnie Raitt is a nine-time Grammy Award winning artist and political activist, a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame who has a way with the lyric guitar unlike any other singer. 10/17. Loris Bog-Off. Held each year, this event includes a parade, chicken bog (a kind of stew) cooking contest, crafts, arts, games, bands, and local entertainment. 10/17-18. The 29th Annual North Carolina Oyster Festival, held annually in Ocean Isle Beach (just over the NC/SC state line). Whether or not you are a long-standing fan of oysters or not, you will enjoy this fall festival because of its local color and culture, plus its tribute to fall and food and fun. 10/19-25. Nationwide Tour Championship at Daniel Island, Charleston, SC. A professional's feeder tour to the PGA circuit, this tournament expects to draw big talent and offer big cash prizes. For amateur and golf-enthusiasts, this tournament is the nationwide tour's final event each year, concluding the season-long competition to identify the 25 players who earn PGA TOUR cards for the following season based on the tour's final money list.
