FAMILY VACATION NEWSLETTER

Greetings!

Things are really heating up in Myrtle Beach! The warm weather in April has brought many to the beach and the question they are asking is not "What to do?" but "What to do first?" In addition to the two bike weeks, May brings the Little River Blue Crab Festival and one of three Art in the Park shows, held in Chapin Park each year and giving local artists an opportunity to display and sell their work. Add to that the shows and attractions, and there's something for everyone!

Water Amenities

Grande Shores knows our water amenities are an important part of your vacation plans! During the late spring, summer and early fall, the sun does a great job of heating the outdoor amenities for us. Our pool heaters help the sun along from March to June and from September to Thanksgiving on our first floor pool and lazy river. Our 7th floor pool and lazy river are supplemented with heat from Can Am week in March through the Easter and spring break holidays. Two of our outdoor 7th floor hot tubs are heated all year and the other two are heated from March through November. Our indoor pool, kiddie pool and large spa are heated for your enjoyment all year long. Go to www.grandeshores.com and click on our webcam to see our 7th floor pool deck and a panoramic view of the shore.

Easter Bunny and Coloring Contest

Our 4th annual Easter coloring contest and visit from the Easter Bunny was a great success! Thanks to Jamie Fisher of the Grande Shores staff for his special help with the Easter Bunny. Congratulations to prizewinners Landon Crumbley in the 3 to 7 year old category and Sydney Knap in the 8 to 12 year old category. Great job!!

Since 1986 - when entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore brought the first year-round live entertainment here - Myrtle Beach has emerged as a hotspot for family friendly concerts. Enjoy an abundance of dance, comedy, dinner shows, and celebrity concerts. See Gilmore's music and comedy variety show, The Carolina Opry, which has won every top South Carolina tourism award. Listen to amazing tribute artists at Alabama Theatre. Or savor a castle banquet and watch dueling knights at Medieval Times Dinner & Tournament. Just a few of our South Carolina theaters include:

The Alabama Theatre This plush, 2,000-seat theater is the setting for some of the best concerts and shows in town, as well as a top-notch variety show called One. The list of entertainment legends who have graced this stage include George Jones; Bill Cosby; Charlie Pride; Loretta Lynn; Roy Clark; the Coasters, Platters & Drifters; and the auditorium's namesake, Alabama.

Carolina Opry Founded by entertainer and entrepreneur Calvin Gilmore, the Carolina Opry started the Grand Strand's theater boom in 1986 and continues to delight audiences year after year. The 2,200-seat venue offers a medley of music, including country, pop, gospel, Broadway, jazz and more, plus generous helpings of comedy and dance. Mr. Gilmore regularly appears on the Grand Ole Opry.

GUEST COMMENTS

Here's what our guests are saying about us...

Stayed right on the ocean - beautiful view, great price, clean room and very convenient with the kitchenette available.

We loved the staff, especially a lobby customer service person named Crystal who helped us rent a car and did it with a nice friendly smile and sweet conversation. We brought our one-year old son with us and she had lots of suggestions of where to go, eat, etc. for us.

Hotel sits right on the beach with great views from the balcony. We stayed in 607 (end unit) that supplied a wonderful view of the entire beachfront to our left. Cleaning staff did a very good job with the rooms. The pools (both indoor and outdoor) were very nice. For the money we paid, it was a very good value. Would definitely stay here again!

Third visit to this resort for Annual Golf Outing with a group ranging from 4 to 16 golfers. Condo North Ocean View rooms are always nice and clean and work out great. Three Bedroom units are really roomy and highly recommended from this planner. Guys love the onsite lounge and resort is centrally located making nitelife a breeze. Golf rates are competitive through the resort and really make it grand for a one stop shop. Never had any complaints from the group and look forward to next years trip already!!!!!

What a deal! My husband and I booked this Resort for our 26th wedding anniversary. This was a three day two night anniversary package that included wine, fruit basket (large), 2 breakfast meals and (1) evening meal. When we arrived, our room was skillfully decorated with hearts across the beds and bathroom, counters, all towels were decorated with hearts with rose petals flowing across everything, even the tub. It was truly lovely. An intimate table for two was decorated with wine glasses, wine already chilled and the largest fruit basket I had ever seen. To top this off, our breakfast the next morning was great, the buffet has everything from fresh eggs, bacon, sausage, French toast, pancakes, juice, coffee and all kinds of fruit. The Saturday night meal was very romantic, lights were low with a candle on our table. Prior to the meal, we went to the lounge a little early just to talk and have a relaxing glass of wine before we were served. While @ the small bar, we over heard the bartender say to another couple that they were waiting for the couple who purchased the romance package. We watched as the waiter prepared our table, menu, candle unaware the couple was us. We felt very special and have never been treated with such service and kindness. The waiter was great, he actually got on his knees while taking the order to make sure he understood everything we wanted without making a mistake. The meal with the package included everything, all the way to the dessert (cheesecake, to die for). We would rate this deal the very best we have ever purchased over 26 years. You can't beat an oceanfront room with balcony, meals, service in a great location for around $200. We will return!!

Happy Honeymooners from North Carolina
