European Students Make for Great Seasonal Employees
Grande Shores Hotel and oceanfront resort in Myrtle Beach SC has found a labor pool to draw from on the other side of the Atlantic ocean. This Myrtle Beach family vacation destination employees eastern European exchange students for seasonal summertime positions in housekeeping, food and beverage, front desk services and other Oceanfront hotel departments.
The students come to Grande Shores through the Council on International Educational Exchange(CIEE). Since 1947, CIEE has been in pursuit of its mission, "to help people gain understanding, acquire knowledge, and develop skills for living in a globally interdependent and culturally diverse world." They arrive in the Myrtle Beach and must apply for social security cards and find housing. Their employment has been arranged by CIEE. These students can often make enough money in the United States during their summer job to pay for one years college tuition when they go back home to Europe.
If you are staying at Grande Shores during your golf package vacation or family vacation, ask a staff member where they are from. You may make a friend, learn geography and find out about a culture very different from your own.
